CLIMATE-RESILIENT AND ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE HEALTHCARE FACILITY (CRESHCF)

Climate change significantly impacts the health sector, particularly in archipelagic nations like Indonesia. The Government of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Health, is committed to supporting sustainable development to build a resilient health system against the effects of climate change. This commitment is realized through the ratification of the Paris Agreement, which is stipulated in Law No. 16/2016.

The purpose of this guideline is to provide direction for healthcare facilities in assessing their capacity and vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. This guideline is intended to serve as a foundation for improving the preparedness of healthcare facilities, reducing emissions, and supporting sustainable development.

The implementation of the assessment includes strengthening the commitment of local governments, forming an implementation team, and enforcing regulations. The assessment will be prioritized for healthcare facilities that are integrated with and actively report their medical waste management through SIKELIM, to ensure the assessment is effective and based on accurate data. Additionally, priority will be given to healthcare facilities with a higher risk of climate change impacts, which therefore require earlier and more frequent assessment. To support the assessment process, extensive involvement of stakeholders is necessary, including health agencies, environmental agencies, regional disaster management agencies (BPBD), healthcare facilities, and NGOs or Civil Society Organizations.
